Writer: M.Richman M.D.M.Richman M.D.

Good morning! I get so many calls about the misinformation spread all over social media sites and the internet in general. Plese believe me that statins don't cause dementia. They do quite the opposite. I take Rosuvastatin!! The meta-analysis of 55 studies in 7 million patients is hot of the press and published in the official journal of the Alzheimer's Association

Highlights

  • Largest meta-analysis to date on statins and dementia risk, including 55 studies and more than 7 million patients.

  • Statin use compared to nonusers linked to lower risks of all-dementia, Alzheimer's, and Vascular Dementia by 14%. Additionally, Rosuvastatin demonstrated the most pronounced protective effect for all-cause dementia among specific statins

  • Numerous significant subgroup results highlight statins' diverse neuroprotective effects.
