Dr. Michael Richman is the absolute best. He literally saved my life. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer when doctors found a 4.1cm cancerous tumor at the head of my pancreas. I immediately sought out one of the largest world class cancer centers, Memorial Sloan Kettering, to guide my treatment. I was confident this was the right call, but from the start I was met with a disengaged, non-communicative care team. 

My medical oncologist missed appointments more times than not and would come unprepared with my results, failed to communicate scans/results to the appropriate physicians when needed, and dodged any questions I had related to my prognosis or surgery-related treatment options.

I hadn’t realized the strain of having to schedule my own appointments and deal with unprepared doctors until I met Dr. Michael Richman. He not only provided support to both me and my family, but did so candidly and respectfully. I ended up receiving a life-saving surgery that MSK had ruled out as a treatment option because of my assigned surgeon’s lack of experience. My biggest takeaway from this whole ordeal is the importance of having a physician, someone who knows your story and their way around the healthcare industry, to serve as a patient advocate. He is highly respected by colleagues at hospitals all over the country and ultimately -- he gets things done well and quickly. If you’re dealing with this and trying to find the best option for yourself or a family member, I would highly recommend consulting Dr. Richman. Even if you’re satisfied with your current provider or treatment plan, having an unbiased and honest medical opinion can go a long way.

Being sick is no fun, but having an advocate like Dr. Richman on your team certainly helps. If for nothing else, for the respect he gets from other surgeons given his overall knowledge and years of experience performing transplant surgeries.

Michael, It’s closing in on nearly a year since my mom passed away and that phone call you had with my dad, with my family that he NEEDED to have with you.

My dad NEEDED to know….. so many different “IF’s.” You listened patiently, you heard all of his concerns, our concerns as a family. You consoled all of us, most importantly, my dad.

He was loosing his partner, his best friend, the mother of his 3 adult children.

They were married since August 28, 1965 and it wasn’t always easy, yet they got through it all together.

They taught Richard Jastrow, Sharon Jastrow Cohen and me what true character is.

All I can say is that first and foremost, before being the best at what you do , you’re an amazing, humble, down to earth man.

I had an ultrasound of my thyroid in 2011 and had at least one thyroid nodule. I was told not to worry. I have noticed that I have a couple of “swollen” areas in my neck which have been getting increasingly larger. I just had an ultrasound of my thyroid and it showed three large nodules, the largest being over 5.0 cm.

I was told by my GP not to worry and she referred me to an endocrinologist who couldn’t see me for 4 weeks. Dr. Richman was referred to me by a friend and I contacted him immediately as I was extremely concerned. He started to explain to me about thyroid nodules and the need to obtain an FNA of all three nodules. I was immediately impressed by his depth of knowledge and knew that he would help me. Within 5 minutes, he gave me the name and number of the chief of endocrine surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University and he told me to call to schedule an appointment which I did promptly. He will follow up with the surgeon after I am seen.

I am so grateful for his help because I was lost and didn’t know what to do. I know now that I am in great hands as long as I have him as my Paladin.

PaladinMDs and Dr Richman were amazing! I contacted him on Christmas Eve to help with a family member who was very sick in the hospital. He’s knowledgeable and understanding about complex issues. With his guidance, I was able to understand, the “current standard of care” for sick hospitalized patients with COVID. With his help, we were finally able to talk to his nurse and then had a conference call with his hospitalist (who I didn’t know) and Dr.Richman. His doctor was able to communicate with Dr Richman daily and then I was finally able to get regular updates. I can’t tell you how much knowing that he was around relieved my level of anxiety. There really aren’t words to describe how much Dr. Michael Richman has changed the trajectory of my dads life. My dad (59 years old) had melanoma from his forehead metastasize into his lungs in two spots.

At the University of Kansas medical center, they basically gave him two options; The first that would prolong his life 6 months and the other 9 months. It was incomprehensible that he would have less than a year to live.

A good friend of ours suggested we work with Dr. Michael. My dad was hesitant at first because he has been going to KU Med for the last 30 years. Not to mention, my dad has a long medical history of four liver transplants, AFIB, etc. My dad believed KU was the only option because they knew so much about his medical history.

After the first conversation, my dad felt like he was in amazing care and Dr. Michael gave him new options that no other medical professional even shared before.

As a team, we immediately pulled him out of KU Med and into the care of the top doctors in the world thanks to Dr. Michael’s incredible network of medical professional friends.

I am so happy to say my dad is now under the care of Dr. Kirkwood (top melanoma doctor in the US, if not the world) all because Dr. Michael called him up on a Sunday and Dr. Kirkwood didn’t hesitate for a second to squeeze my dad into his schedule.

Over the past 5 months, Dr. Michael and my dad talk on the phone at least once a day if not three or four. They have become great friends.

Dr. Michael is truly a life saver. He is so passionate and driven to help and change peoples lives. He genuinely cares for my dad….. mentally and physically.

We have gotten rid of all the metastatic melanoma and are carefully watching so we can deal with it fast if it ever pops back up. Dr. Michael has formulated a plan for every potential outcome.

Again, I truly can’t put into words how incredible Dr. Michael has treated my dad (and our whole family).

Paladin MD is an amazing concept. You are provided a private concierge doctor in your own home. Specifically, Dr Richman was incredibly responsive and patient when my mother fell ill. I could feel at peace because he truly took time with us and his medical competency was unsurpassed. Let me begin by saying that Paladin MDs and Dr. Michael Richman saved my mother's life. I was really out of my element trying to advocate for her cardiac care on my own. The hospital was trying to discharge her with a severe untreated heart condition among other problems. I knew she was too sick to go home but didn't know the jargon and process well enough to argue the point. After contacting Paladin MDs through their website Dr. Richman called me back in about an hour to discuss the problem. The flat-rate fee for his services was a no-brainer and he immediately went to work for my mom like she was his own family. He reached out to her physicians personally and knew exactly how to turn things around. Within hours of his call, her care team reevaluated her and escalated her treatment. We found that her heart issues were so bad that had she been discharged, she'd likely have been dead in a matter of days. The Paladin MDs service was amazing, efficient, and affordable. I'd never hesitate to use it again for my family or myself.

My relationship with Dr. Richman is special and I attribute my finer state of health to him. I met him years ago, through a colleague of mine in the Congress. After the results came, he prescribed me some new medicines and as hesitant as I am, I decided to give it a try. After a year, I took the tests again and all the results were fantastic. We have an incredibly special relationship because he really just wants to improve your overall health and well-being. Michael Richman is not just a great doctor, he is also a great and trusted friend.

As a physician and patient of Dr. Richman I was blown away with his understanding of lipids and management approach. Dr. Richman got through to me, helped augment my understanding, and used simple metaphors to make complex lipid physiology understandable. His specialized expertise in this field and practical experience is phenomenal, and I am an ED doc who evaluated physician consultants critically for 30 years, he knows lipids and he know lipid management. He is also personable and motivating. If he got through to me, he can get through to anyone. Since my consult with Dr. Richman I am 100% compliant with my meds, and I am using his metaphors with my patients liberally, with attribution.
